Don Catchment

Providing Evidence for Don Catchment Hidden Heritage Secret Streams

Project Summary: Using academic expertise to assess land-management options proposed in the Heritage Life funded Hidden Heritage Secret Streams project within the Upper Rother Catchment (a tributary of the River Don). The options will address 1) diffuse pollution; 2) slowing the flow and 3) increasing ecological connectivity of the landscape. This project will collate open source data and produce opportunity maps. The project will draw on lessons learned from the following iCASP projects:  Public Goods Review; The Yorkshire Derwent Data Finder and Natural Flood Management. This project will inform the location of options within the Upper Rother Catchment for the duration of the Hidden Heritage Secret Stream project.

Project Team: Prof. Lorraine Maltby and Prof. Phil Warren – University of Sheffield; Prof. Colin Brown – University of York; Prof. Pippa Chapman, Dr. Paul Kay, Dr Megan Klaar, Dr. Chris Hassall and Dr. Janet Richardson – University of Leeds; Dr. Ed Shaw and Rachel Walker – Don Catchment Rivers Trust.

Duration: Sept 2018 – Jan 2019
