Impact Translation Fellow
Dr Sam Ramsden brings to iCASP research and engagement skills, in particular around communicating flood risk to local communities and supporting actions to improve flood resilience.
He will be supporting the West Yorkshire Flood Innovation Programme (WY FLIP) and Yorkshire Natural Flood Management Community of Practice.
Previously a researcher at the University of Hull, Sam led household flood surveys in flood affected communities in collaboration with Living with Water. He conducted analysis to understand the long-term health impacts of the 2007 floods and how gender affects flood resilience. Sam also supported the Flood Innovation Centre to support to local charities including helping Community Emergency Shelters identify their flood risk and priorities for mitigation.
Sam grew up in Sheffield and worked with charities in Papua New Guinea, Pakistan and Vanuatu before returning to the UK to study for his PhD. You can email Sam or connect with him on Twitter
