In December 2025, the Yorkshire Natural Flood Management Community of Practice (NFM CoP) came together online for its Winter Webinar, marking an important moment for the network as we look ahead to the next phase of delivery across the region.
Following on from the momentum of the Monitoring Skill Share earlier in the year, the session provided an opportunity for members to reconnect, share learning, and hear key updates.
Session highlights included:
- Funding update confirming newly approved three-year levy funding (2025–2028) to support continued coordination, events and resources for the CoP.
- A virtual tour of the Ousewem project at Hauxwell Estate, delivered by Amanda Crossfield and Matthew Lyall, featuring drone footage and a 360° interactive site walkthrough. The session explored design rationale, landowner collaboration, delivery challenges and monitoring approaches for large-scale NFM.
- Opening floor to collect contributions for the NFM Project Showcase 2026 by Emma Wren
- A project spotlight from Debbie Coldwell, introducing a Newt Pond and stormwater scheme and providing an early example of the upcoming NFM Showcase series.
- An interactive poll, inviting attendees to help shape CoP priorities and themes for 2026.
