Call for peatlands experts to help with our WaterLANDS research

As part of our work on the WaterLANDS programme, we have conducted an extensive literature synthesis to investigate how physical and chemical drivers are having an impact on the ecosystem functions of wetlands.

However, we have identified several gaps in our research, particularly in terms of data availability for certain wetland types and functional relationships.

To address these gaps we are inviting people with peatland expertise to complete a survey to evaluate the functional relationships for which published data is limited. The survey can be found here: https://leeds.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/waterlands_expert_survey

WaterLANDS will contribute to the restoration of wetland sites across Europe which have been damaged by human activity and is laying the foundations for protection across larger areas. The programme is funded through the EU Horizon 2020, Green Deal Call 7.1,

When taking part in the survey, please complete only the sections you feel able to – there is no need to complete all sections (for example, if you have no expertise on a particular wetland type then there is no need to complete that section). We already know that data are limited for the questions in the survey so we are not expecting you to base your answers on published datasets.

We are only asking about key relationships where there are limited data – so if you were expecting other questions then we probably already have reasonable data on those. No personal information will be collected or held, and responses are anonymous.

Please help us by sharing this survey to other experts who may be able to contribute. The survey will close on 31 May 2023.

If you have any questions please contact Richard Grayson r.grayson@leeds.ac.uk .

Our team would like to thank you in advance for taking the time to complete the survey, it is very much appreciated.
