Aim
The aim of this work package is to provide the evidence and associated framework to embed flood source management into planning activities and schemes to maximise co-benefits across the West Yorkshire Combined Authority area (WYCA).
Activities
We will:
- Identify strategic areas for flood source (system) mapping across the WYCA, and connect flood source maps to estimate impact on properties and roads
- Evaluate current use of flood source maps withing the WYCA, including for economic, technical, environmental and social impact
- Link up with the other work packages on spatial data requirements and collection to help identify opportunities within the project
- Identify opportunities to manage flood risk at source and explore the co-benefits of such activities for use in business case portfolios for climate ready planning (and prioritisation)
- Apply objective 4 to case study locations across WYCA, and synthesise findings for wider dissemination.
Outputs
We will deliver the following outputs:
- Review current best practise for use of flood source maps and hazard management
- Framework for using flood source maps and co-benefit evaluation to help prioritise current and future investment plans
- Synthesis report: recommendations and principles (for example, data collection, activities, methods) for incorporating flood source and co-benefit evaluation in climate ready planning.
